As in any other big city of the world, there are a number of potentially unsafe situations you might come across in your everyday life in Mexico. These might include traveling alone on public transport (especially at night), walking alone in deserted areas, and flag down taxis on the street.
It is important to be aware of what can happen and take responsibility for your personal safety, but if you respect a few rules, you will enjoy a wonderful experience.
